Mitsui E&P Australia Pty Ltd (MEPAU) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui & Co. Ltd. We operate as regional headquarters for Mitsui’s oil and gas exploration and production business in Australia. We have a fantastic opportunity for an Analyst to join us on a full-time basis, working within our Financial Control team out of our Perth CBD office.

Job Description

This role will see you working as part of the Financial Control team while being embedded within our Operated Assets team, delivering a “business partnering” approach to supporting MEPAU’s and Mitsui’s strategic directions. In addition to supporting the Operated Assets team, you may also provide support across the JV Management processes and Non-Operated Assets on an ad-hoc basis.

Your key responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):

  • Support Joint Venture Management through:
    • Ensuring compliance for all accounting aspects of JV ventures (operated & non-operated)
    • Interfacing with various internal/external stakeholders, including attending various meetings, audits and reporting requirements
  • Operated Assets:
    • Assist in preparing and uploading budgets
    • Complete various transactions in ledgers
    • Regular reporting
    • Interface with JV Participants and stakeholders as required
  • Non-Operated Assets:
    • Assist in preparing and uploading budgets
    • Regular reporting
    • Monitor and review all AFE’s
    • Interface with operator and stakeholders as required
    • Expenditure analysis and tracking

Desired Skills and Experience

Our ideal person will be a team player with a high level of enthusiasm, self-motivation, and initiative, who will bring to the role demonstrated capabilities in previous Analyst roles as well as experience acting as a business partner to provide advice and recommendations to other sections of the business.

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Qualifications in Commerce or related field (advantageous)
  • Minimum five years’ experience in similar role
  • Experience in Oil & Gas advantageous
  • Experience in JV Accounting highly desirable
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and confident to develop working relationships with commercial team, project team and business partners
  • Problem solving ability in identifying and evaluating alternative solutions to support operational and commercial arrangements
  • Hands on approach and be a team player
