About the role:
The Online campus is looking for an Online Sports Tutor. As an Online Sports Tutor, you will be walking into an energetic online environment where value is placed on delivering outcomes in our Health and Fitness Personal Trainer, Level 4 and 5 programmes. You will be given autonomy to work in a way that gets the best results and will be expected to take responsibility and make things happen. You will need to be organised and efficient in your work habits, as you work with the online students.
Some of your key responsibilities will be to:
- Participate in the continuous improvement of course content and learning resources
- Deliver assessments and grade assessments: ensuring students are evaluated to prescribed national and local qualification standards
- Be available to give subject related support to your Online students, in a caring and encouraging manner via our Online learning platform.
- Keep records of accurate student data, assessment results, student participation, student-at-risk and other required documentation
- Meet NZIS targets for student achievement and recruitment
- Relevant sport, exercise and recreation Industry stakeholder engagement
About you:
To be a Personal Training Tutor, you must have a Bachelor’s degree in exercise science/sport management or other related fields or experience in the sport, exercise or recreation industry and the relevant industry experience in personal training. You must have the ability to operate independently and be able to connect with students of all age groups become the fitness leaders of tomorrow.
In addition, you must also have:
- A passion for the sports fitness and recreation industries and have will have networks within the local sporting/fitness communities.
- An ability to connect with students through facilitated asynchronous delivery: through our platform’s forums, messaging and live sessions. Must also provide basic pastoral care and support to the students.
- Ideally have experience and expertise in delivery of some or all of the following subject areas:
- Exercise Prescription
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Special populations
- Customer care and ethics
- Fitness testing
- Business of personal training
- A keenness to expand your adult teaching skillset as part of your professional development.
- Commitment to Te Tiriti O Waitangi.
Ideally, you will have teacher training or relevant student engagement experience, however NZIS can provide this for the suitable candidate.
